This cajun seasoning is perfect for any dish that deserves a southern touch!
My personal favorite recipe to make with this cajun seasoning is shrimp with rice and veggies. Super easy, healthy, and clean. And that recipe could easily be turned into a pasta dish with the addition of pasta (obviously!) and a liquid for a sauce base. When I was creating all of my homemade seasonings I never realized how the slightest variation in herbs and spices could create a whole new seasoning. But cajun seasoning is all on its own, it has a special taste that no other seasoning can match or even mimic.
Per usual, if you want this seasoning to be less spicy, use less cayenne or omit it all together. Seasonings don’t have to be spicy to be flavorful. And just like the recipes that had white pepper but black pepper was suitable, this is the same just vice versa. Feel free to use white pepper instead. This is another one of those seasonings, much like my homemade ranch seasoning, that is extremely versatile and can be used on almost anything (savory, of course!). Cajun chicken, cajun ribs, cajun fries, cajun cauliflower. If you like the cajun flavor, put this seasoning on everything. No judgement here.
- 4 TBSP Garlic Powder
- 4 TBSP Onion Powder
- 4 TBSP Oregano
- 2 TBSP Paprika
- 2 TBSP Thyme
- 4 tsp Black Pepper
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Cayenne Pepper (Optional)
- Combine ingredients in a storage container and mix it up!
