Having a daily routine keeps you organized, motivated, and reduces your stress level.
I’m a huge fan of having a daily routine, a set schedule, and a to-do list. A daily routine is just something or a series of things that you do every day. This doesn’t mean it’s your entire day all written down and unable to be changed. A daily routine can be the free hour you have before work in the morning or how you end your day before bed. Today I’m going to share with you 3 ways a daily routine can keep you motivated!
You Know What’s Going To Happen
If you read my post on how to become a morning person then you know a daily routine can set you up for a successful day. When you know exactly what’s going to happen at a certain time during the day (whether it’s your skincare routine, workout routine, etc.) you can better plan your schedule to allow other things to fit in your day. For example, my morning routine includes the following between 6am and 10am: wake up, skincare routine, get dressed for the gym, get Briam’s food ready for work, make my breakfast, drop Briam off at work while drinking my morning smoothie (because I like spending time with him on the ride, not because I have to), head to the gym and workout for an hour. I know that I have a set routine from 6am to 10am. I look forward to this constant in my life.
You Have Something To Look Forward To
Speaking of having something to look forward to… I like knowing that I’m going to get my workout in and that I’ll have time to drink my smoothie beforehand. It gives me motivation to wake up every morning without hesitation and without hitting snooze. I know what I’m going to wear when I wake up, I know what products I’m going to use for my skin, and I know what things I need to finish up for Briam. (Yes, I’m that kind of wife that packs her husband’s lunch and makes him breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. And I pack him snacks. I love my husband that way.)
You Know How To Change It When Needed
Sometimes our daily routine will be interrupted or changed. And that’s okay. When you keep a daily routine you start to earn how to handle interruptions or changes when they happen. Sometimes I like to stop and hang out with my dad after I drop Briam off at work. That certainly throws off my schedule and my routine but an hour or so, but I love hanging out with my dad. Or how my daily routine most definitely changes when we go on vacation. But let me tell you, waking up at 4am to get to the train station to go to Paris from London is so much better than waking up at 6am to make breakfast. Or how waking up at 6am to each breakfast made by the delightful chefs on a Royal Caribbean cruise to make the 7am excursion time definitely beats going to the gym.
Basically what I’m saying is that your daily routine can be interrupted or change for certain periods of time or during something exciting you’re doing. And all of that is okay! Change is not a bad thing. It’s how we handle it and accept it that matters. But motivation can certainly come from having a daily routine and from knowing that you can handle life if the routine changes.
What’s your daily routine like?
