The Top 5 Must Try Turkey Recipes For Thanksgiving
I am so excited for this round up! I love the holiday season and all the amazing food that comes with it. I’ve been in charge of making the turkey every year for Thanksgiving (with the exception of last year) and Friends-Giving. My favorite way to make a traditional roast turkey is to slather it in herb butter and stuff it with, well, stuffing. I alway end up with a flavorful, moist turkey that has the best crispy skin! And not to mention the amazing juices at the bottom of the pan that I save to make a kick-butt mushrooms gravy.
So today I wanted to share with you my top 5 picks for Thanksgiving turkey recipes! These are a bit off the normal path I would take, which is exactly why I love them! There’s nothing that I enjoy more than trying new recipes and then making them my own. So in no particular order, here are my top 5 picks for thanksgiving turkey recipes!
Turkey 1: Natasha’s Kitchen – Juicy Roast Turkey
To be fair, I honestly love darn near every recipe that Natasha of Natasha’s Kitchen creates. She has such a unique way of bringing the most basic recipe to her readers in a creative way. And, of course, we all need to know the basics. This turkey recipe is definitely something you need in your recipe box! I love the she keeps it simple, but you could totally add various herbs to change it up a bit. And keep the cooked onions to make a gravy or roast veggies. Turkey 2: Five Heart Home – Maple Glazed Turkey with Bacon and Sage Butter
Um, hello! Samantha from Five Heart Home totally had me hooked after 2 things – maple glazed and bacon. Ya girl LOVES bacon. I really do. I even bought a vegan bacon substitute the other day in an effort to cut down on my bacon consumption. And now we’re wrapping our thanksgiving turkey with it? Good Lord please help me. Talk about sweet, savory, moist, and beyond freaking delicious. I would happily save some of that maple glaze and drizzle it over a batch of roast potatoes. I can’t stop – maple bacon everything!!! Turkey 3: Tangled with Taste – Aromatic Lemon, Apple, and Herb Turkey
This trash, classic recipe from Juli of Tangled with Taste is destined to be a crowd pleaser. If you have a home full of picky eaters who can’t decide on how to dress up the turkey, this recipe is the way to go. Crispy skin, fresh flavor, and easily paired with many sides, this recipe will turn your pick eaters into happy campers. Juli, who is obviously amazing, even helps you out by sharing 6 different sides that you can pair with this turkey. Talk about a one-stop-shop! Turkey 4: Grits and Pinecones – Garlic Smoked Turkey for Thanksgiving
First off, I’m in LOVE with the name of Sharon’s blog – Grits and Pinecones. Grits are probably the biggest childhood memory I have of my Grandma from Mississippi, aside from biscuits and gravy, of course. Now back to the turkey. Instead of the traditional route of using the oven to bake her turkey, Sharon smokes hers to give it that extra bit of rustic flavor. There’s something so delicious and unique about the smokey flavor that charcoal gives food. And there’s still the great crispy skin that comes from a perfect herb butter. Turkey 5: Smart Little Cookie – Latin Style Turkey with Mojo and Sazon Achiote
Let me tell you, Vanessa from One Smart Cookie is just that, a smart cookie. I married into a Latin family so seeing this amazing change up from the traditional turkey is awesome. I remember the first turkey I made at my in-laws house my father-in-law kept walking passed saying “Why isn’t she using Mojo?”. Which in turn started the long standing joke of “it’s not right unless there’s Mojo!”. But for real though, adding a Latin flare to anything instantly makes it exciting, delicious, and something everyone will remember. To add a Latin twist to your Thanksgiving dinner, click here!
